Helen M. Sommer, Age 82, of North Canton, Passed away on Thursday, June 24, 2010 in Aultman Hospital. She was born in Canton on October 11, 1927 and graduated from Timken High School. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Johanna and Frank Soldatis, her daughter; Kathy Sommer, brother; Frank Soldatis and sister; Anna Lux. Survivors include her husband of over 55 years - Joseph J. Sommer, daughter; Carol McShane of Glendale, California, son; Joseph C. Sommer of Columbus, son; John M. Sommer of Carrollton, four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, brother Louis Soldatis of Massillon and sister Margaret Janson of Chagrin Falls. Helen was a devoted mother and housewife who loved to cook, sew and care for her family in countless ways. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and did so extensively after his retirement. She also enjoyed playing cards with friends and former high school classmates. Helen was a member of the Women's Committee of Walsh University. Friends may call on Sunday, June 27th from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Spiker-Foster-Shriver Funeral Home, 4817 Cleveland Ave., N.W. A private service for family will be held on Monday. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery in the family plot.
