Helen Jane Montgomery, age 87, of Canton, died peacefully in her sleep at St. Josephs Village in Manhattan, Kansas on Sunday, September 30, 2007. Helen was a retired kindergarten and second grade teacher at Manchester grade School. She was very active at Christ Presbyterian Church, Canton Woman's Club, College Club, Kappa Kappa IOTA Sorority and Retired State Teachers Assoc. Survivors include 2 daughters: Martha Jean Montgomery-Behrendt of Los Angeles, CA and Nancy (Lee) Woodford of Manhattan, KS, 1 son: Charles D. Montgomery of China, 5 grandchildren: Todd, Gretchen, Kristy, Keith and Jeb, 4 great-grandchildren: Landry, Kiley, Jessica and Natalie, Several beloved nieces, nephews and many friends, preceded in death by her Parents John and Elma (McConnell) Davis, husband Dr. Frank W. Montgomery, granddaughter Abby Jane Woodford and 2 brothers D.D. Davis and Chester Davis. Friends may call on Friday from 5-7pm at Spiker-Foster-Shriver Funeral Home 710 Tuscarawas ST. W. , Interment at North Lawn Cemetery Saturday 10am, A Memorial Service will follow the interment at Christ Presbyterian Church 530 Tuscarawas St. W at 11am. Officiating Rev. David de Vries, Pastor Wendy Bausman and Rev. Doug Patton. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to: Montgomery Scholarship Fund, Sterling College, Sterling, KS 66502 or Food Ministry of Christ Presbyterian Church, 530 Tuscarawas St. W. Canton, OH 44702.
