Obituary

Helen Colegrove, 95, formerly of Akron, passed away on December 8, 2025. She was born in Baldwin, Illinois on October 5, 1930, to the late Adam and Elsa (Mehring) Schmoll.

She met her future husband, Edwin Colegrove at the Air Force base in Illinois and they married on March 19, 1949. They shared 70 loving years together until his passing in 2019.

Helen was the matriarch of her family. She loved being a wife and absolutely adored her title as "Mom" to her son Wayne, who passed on July 21, 2012 and was a grief that never left her.

Later in life, Helen gained another title, "Grammie" which she was completely devoted too.

Having family gatherings was important to Helen and they were never complete without her homemade cookies and pies that were always baked with love.

Helen was also a dedicated and longtime member of United Methodist Church in Uniontown and even when she could not attend in person, they made sure church came to her.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter-in-law, Leah Colegrove; grandchildren, Allison (Tim) Morse and Edwin "Eddie" Colegrove; great-granddaughters, Braelynn and Olympia Morse; and brother Adam Schmoll.

In addition to her parents, husband and son, Helen was preceded in death by her sister Dolores Hilpert.

In keeping with her wishes, cremation will take place and no services are planned at this time. She will be laid to rest at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery next to her beloved husband.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Helen's church, United Methodist Church, 13370 Cleveland Ave NW, Uniontown, OH 44685.
