Hazel Naomi (Scott) Millikin, age 92, passed away early New Year's morning January 1, 2012 at Altercare of Louisville after a brief illness; she had been a long-time resident of Navarre Village. She was born July 14, 1919 in Canton, OH to Leona E. (Brown) Scott and Ralph F. Scott. She graduated from Louisville High School in 1937 and then worked for the Timken Company for 32 years before retiring in 1974. She married Woodrow (Woody) Millikin of Louisville on July 1, 1950, and they celebrated 54 years together prior to Woody's death in August 2004. Hazel was also preceded in death by her parents and a younger brother, Ralph Jr., and more recently on December 3, 2011 by a younger sister Rosemary Turkson of Carrollton, OH. Her survivors include a sister June L. Hammond of Arizona; several nieces and nephews in Arizona and Ohio; and her friends and caregivers Richard and Joan Halter of Louisville, and Patricia Tidwell and Ted Harvey of Canton. Hazel enjoyed playing the piano and reading; she was a very talented seamstress and painterno craft was beyond her talents. For many years Woody and Hazel were participants in Canton's K-9 Kollege and proudly marched in the Hall of Fame Parade with their German Shepherds. Membership and volunteering at St. Paul's Episcopal Church were important in her life, especially the years she spent helping out in the Next-to-New Shoppe and the parish office. Family and friends extend their special thanks to the staff of Altercare of Louisville for their compassion and the quality of care Hazel received during her illness. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place and her cremains will rest beside her husband's in St. Paul's Columbarium. There will be no services.
