Obituary

Harvey W. "Bill" Zaiser, age 98 of Canton, passed away Monday, January 30, 2017 in House of Loreto. He was born February 13, 1918 in Canton to Harvey W. and Louise (Walker) Zaiser. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Caroline Josephine (Margo) Zaiser; sisters Pauline Dartt, Louise Lamborn, and brother Ray Zaiser; and a grandson, Matthew James Zaiser. He is survived by his daughters, Sandra Dowding and Mary Jo (Steve) Robbins both of Canton; two sons, James (Judy) Zaiser and Robert (Suzanne) Zaiser of California; eight grandchildren, Stephen Dowding, Michael (Kim) Robbins, Alex (Valerie) Robbins, Patrick Robbins all of Canton, Sean (Tracey) Duck, Jeffrey Zaiser, Jake Zaiser and Sam Zaiser of California; five great grandchildren, Sophia and Matthew Zaiser, Shannon, Kelsey and Tyler Duck all of California. He also enjoyed the company of his special friend Patricia Knisely.

Harvey graduated from McKinley High School in 1936. He was a WW II Army Air Force Veteran and served as a cryptologist with the 4th Fighter Group of the 8th Air Force, achieving the rank of Staff Sargent. He retired from the Ray W. Zaiser Food Brokerage. Mr. Zaiser was a member of First Church of the Resurrection, the Professional Football Hall of Fame Club, United Commercial Travelers, life member of the American Legion Post #44 and Elks Lodge #68 in Canton.

Funeral services will be Saturday 11:00 a.m. in the Arnold Funeral Home with Pastor Bruce Mont officiating. Calling hours are one hour prior to the service 10-11:00 A.M. Burial will be in Sunset Hills Memory Garden. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
