Harry L. Wall, age 82, of Hartville passed away on December 1, 2023. He was born on October 4, 1941, in the former Carson Building on Washington Ave in DuBois, PA. He was the son of Robert T. & Lillian D. (Butler) Wall.
He graduated from DuBois Area High School in 1959 and immediately went to work for Shaw Trucking and Shaw Mack Sales in DuBois as a bookkeeper.
In 1960 he joined the U.S. Naval Reserve and went on to active duty in November of 1961 and served as a 3rd Class Petty Officer Ship Serviceman Clerk aboard the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Saratoga until November of 1963 and was honorably discharged in November of 1966.
He married Betty (Reiter) Wall on January 24, 1964, and has two children Shane of Darrow, Louisiana and Laurel of Hartville, Ohio.
He was employed by Shaw Mack Inc. until it was sold as Vice President and General Manager of its DuBois and Shippenville, PA locations. After the business was sold, he remained with the new owner for one year and then relocated to Hartville, Oh. He took the position of Parts and Service Director for R & R Truck Sales, Inc. in Akron, Oh and eventually became comptroller until he fully retired in 2004.
He became a member of the DuBois Lions Club in 1976 and eventually transferred his membership to the Hartville Lions Club in 1988. He served as President and held other various offices for both clubs and served on the District Cabinet as Zone Chairman for District 14-J in PA and District 13-D in Ohio. He was awarded a letter of commendation by Lions International and was awarded a Melvin Jones Fellowship by the Hartville Lions Club.
While living in DuBois he was an accounting system consultant to the founders of the DuFast Area Transit System and served as an early Board Member during its development.
He was an Ohio Senior Health Insurance Information Program (OSHIPP) volunteer as the Senior Friends department of Mercy Medical Center in Canton, Oh and was awarded the Rookie Volunteer of the year awarded by the State of Ohio Department of Insurance in 2009.
He is survived by his wife and best friend, Betty of 59 years, son Shane, and daughter Laurel. He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Lillian Wall and Brother Robert. Interment will be in the veteran's section of Lake Lawn Cemetery in Reynoldsville, PA.
He enjoyed traveling with Betty, photography, doing stained glass, and small craftwork projects.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, December 7, 2023, from 2-4 PM at the Arnold Funeral Home in Hartville.
