Harriet Amy (Dixon) Ellis, age 89, went home to be with the Lord on February 3, 2017. Born Harriet Duguid Amerman on December 11, 1927 in Skaneateles NY, daughter of Henry Duguid Amerman and Ruth L Jordan. Amy grew up during the Depression and World War II, and served her country in the Army during the Korean Conflict. Afterwards she worked at Bell Labs in New Jersey and married Peter Frederick Bentley Dixon. They had two children, Wiley and Jane. Amy's life touched hundreds of children, as she taught in Canton City Schools for many years. After her retirement, she volunteered at Information & Referral and with Habitat for Humanity. Amy was a founding member of the Stark County Bicycle Club. She also enjoyed golfing and gardening, reading, and putting together jigsaw puzzles and having them framed. She taught Sunday School at Church of the Covenant and later was involved at First Church of the Nazarene in Canton. Amy is survived by her son Wiley Dixon and his wife Beth, former daughter-in-law Georgia, daughter Jane Suarez and her husband Raul, grandchildren Sam, Scott, and Sally Suarez, and Tammi and Julie Dixon, and great-grandchildren William Andrews and Eldon Dixon. Preceded in death by husbands Peter Dixon and Joseph Ellis and granddaughter Danielle Dixon- Andrews. Many thanks to the staff at Stone Crossing Care Center, Hanover Healthcare Center, and Compassionate Care Hospice.
