Harold L. Weil of Hartville died December 20, 2009. He was born in Canal Fulton, December 20, 1917, the youngest son of Charles and Gertrude Humbert Weil, and resided in Akron in his youth and later moved to the Stark County area of New Baltimore and more recently Hartville. Harold graduated from East High School (Akron) and Kent State University where he received his BS degree in Business Administration. During World War II he served five years in the Army, the latter part as a combat infantry officer (Captain) in the 100th Division in the European Theater of War. In 1955 he joined his father-in-law as a partner in the Roy H. Powell Company which sold agricultural chemicals to fruit and vegetable growers in Ohio, Pennsylvania and Florida. He was also an agent for the Wayne Mutual Insurance Company of Wooster. Always a gregarious and caring person, his contributions to his family, church and community were many. He was one of the original members of the Marlboro Township Zoning Commission and served as its first president, and was also a charter member of Habitat for Humanity of Southern Portage County. Survived by his wife Edna, with whom he celebrated 67 years of marriage in June. Also survived by his daughter Linda Ann McClain of Montross, VA; grandsons Colin McClain of Longs, SC and Cory (Jennifer) McClain and great-grandson Nathan McClain all of Tappahannock, VA; niece Joan Bass of Seminole, FL and nephew Bill Weil of Mentor. Brothers Whitney, Charles, Franklin and Gerald and sister Opal are deceased. There will be no calling hours. His wish was to donate his body to medical science. Memorial services will be later in the Powell Family Chapel at the Marlboro Cemetery.
