Gerald E. "Jerry" Hendershot, of Hartville went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday November 14, 2007 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Canton on March 26, 1937 to the late Earl and Marie (Resler) Hendershot. Jerry sold Archway Cookies for years and was fondly known as the "Cookie Man". He later worked for Abratek/Flexovit in sales. He was a member of Advent Lutheran Church and sang in church choirs for over 50 years. He enjoyed his family, bowling, and spending time at the family cottage at Berlin Lake. Wherever Jerry was, there was laughter. A special 50th Anniversary with his wife Dorothy was celebrated on May 11, 2007. Jerry was a dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. In addition to his wife he is survived by children and spouses, Jeri and Gary Kirkbride of Randolph, Kip and Kim Hendershot of Aledo, TX, Steven and Jill Hendershot of Massillon, Diane and Mark Burgner of Wadsworth; grandchildren, Kyle Kirkbride, Brenna Kirkbride and fiancé Jon Raddish, Elaine and Aidan Hendershot, Alexis and Zoe Hendershot, Orrie, Morgan, and Quinn Burgner; and brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Corky Hendershot of Canton. He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Elnora Harrisberger (Nanny); and siblings, Earl, Chuck, Dick, Don, Pauline and Shirley. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday 11:00 AM in Advent Lutheran Church with Rev. Robert Cheyney and Rev. Donald Wukotich officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church.
