Jerry Bloom, age 81 of Canton, passed away at his residence, surrounded by his family, including two granddaughters, Shannon Bloom and Mrs. Shane (Courtney) Bloom-Durant. He was born April 22, 1928 in Youngstown to Max and Kathryn Bloom. Jerry was a co-owner of Bloom & Klein Inc. produce distributors and was president of Stark Warehouse Co. He was a 1946 McKinley High School graduate and received his Bachelor's degree from Kent State University in 1950. Mr. Bloom was a member of Temple Israel, Canton Jewish Community Center, Trinity Lodge #710 F&AM, Scottish Rite Valley of Canton, Al Koran Shrine and Canton Rotary Club. An accomplished golfer, he was a member of a McKinley High School State Champion golf team, he won the Double A Championship twice at Arrowhead Country Club and played in Pro-Am golf tournaments with his good friend Gary Player. Mr. Bloom was also an instrument rated private pilot and served on the board of the National Apple Association. He is survived by his wife, Paula; sons and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Linda Bloom of Cleveland, Marc of Canton; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. Preceded in death by three brothers, Arthur, Irving and Milton. Following private burial at North Lawn Cemetery, a public memorial service will be held Friday 2:00 p.m. at Temple Israel with Rabbi Leah Herz officiating.
