Gerald J. Becker, age 77 of Canton passed away Thursday night October 18, 2007. He was born in Canton on April 26, 1930 to Fred and Lulu (Voltz) Becker and graduated from Lehman High School. Gerald earned a BS in History from Heidelberg College and Masters from Ohio State. He taught school in Mount Vernon and Lucas, Ohio. He was a member of First Church of the Resurrection and had volunteered for the 901 Food Bank and Meals on Wheels. He was an avid Sports fan. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Nancy Becker of Mt. Vernon; granddaughters, Candace Nicole and Taylor Stein of Irving, TX; Alyssa Banister of Mt. Vernon, Kylie and Kevin Taylor of Albany, TX; great-grandson, Lucas Taylor; and cousins, Barbara and Dr. Andrew Botschner of North Canton, Jack and Pat Voltz of Oregon, Tom and Wilma Achauer of Missouri; and best friend for 70 years, Don Nixon of Hartville. Funeral services will be Tuesday 11:00 AM in the Canton Christian Home Chapel with Chaplain Ron Iwanusa and Dr. Bruce Mont officiating. Final resting place is North Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to services in Canton Christian Home, Chapel Tuesday 10-11 AM.
