Obituary

George E. Riehl, age 85, of Canton passed away Friday afternoon in the Inn at Belden Village. Born in Canton to the late George E. & Lottie (Peffer) Riehl he was a life resident. Mr. Riehl was a 1942 graduate of McKinley High School and The Ohio State University. A Veteran of WW II having served in the Marine Corps, he was retired from sales for the Timken Company after over 25 years of service. He was a member of Faith Family Church, where he was very active in their missionaries, and was formerly a long time member of Christ Presbyterian Church and the Cathedral of Life. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years Betty Riehl in 2004, sisters: Betty Hudson, Margie Jacob, Kay Cross, and a brother Bill Riehl. Survivors include a daughter: Mrs. John (Pam) Polt of N. Canton, Son: Mark (Joan) of Doylestown, PA. Two grandchildren: Michelle Cowley of Akron & Matthew (Heidi) Cowley of Canton. Two sisters: Mrs. Robert (Helen) Formet of Dublin, OH & Virginia Otterson of Germantown, MD. Funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday in Faith Family Church with Pastor Jack A. Pancher, II officiating. Interment with Military Honors will be in North Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday from 6 to 8 PM in the Spiker-Foster-Shriver Funeral Home 4817 Cleveland Ave., N.W. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the George E. Riehl Memorial Fund c/o Faith Family Church 8200 Freedom Ave., N.W. N. Canton, OH 44720.
