George L. Ridenour, age 88, of Dover, died Monday evening in Union Hospital. Born in Lima, Ohio to the late Perry & Fannie (Shinaberry) Ridenour. George was an Army WWII veteran in the 531st Engineers Special Brigade, participating in the Normandy Invasion and retired from Costigans Office Supply. His memberships included Lima Lodge 205 F&AM, AASR, American Legion and VFW. In addition to his parents George was preceded in death by his wife, Alberta in 2006 and a brother John Ridenour. Survivors include son David (Janet) Ridenour of Dover, granddaughters; Ann, Heidi and Kate, two great-grandchildren, sister, Iris Bowers of Lima and brother; Lt. Col. Paul Ridenour of Clinton, Maryland also survives. Funeral service will be Friday 11:00 a.m. in the Spiker-Foster-Shriver Funeral Home 4817 Cleveland Ave. NW with Pastor Ed Scaglione officiating. A Masonic service will be at 9:45 a.m. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Community Hospice 716 Commercial Ave. SW, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663.
