Geneva Malinda Jones, age 89, of North Canton, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning November 19, 2011. She was born in Ragersville, Ohio on February 11, 1922 to the late Ferdinand and Clara (Shutt) Deetz and graduated in 1940 from Garaway High School in Sugarcreek and Akron City Hospital's Nursing School in 1944. She was a 2nd Lt. US Army Medical Corp. in 1945. In 1984 Geneva retired from the Coronary Care Unit at Timken Mercy Hospital after many years of nursing. She was a member of The First Church of the Resurrection where she was active in the Welcome-In Class and Emma Zimmer Circle and helped with food and clothing community outreach. She was an avid quilter and reader. Preceded in death by her husband Paul R. Jones December 5, 1999; brothers Floyd , Ralph (Wilma) and Ivan (Grace) Deetz, sister Kitty (Nicholas) Malavite; and sister-in-law Thelma Deetz and brother-in-law Luke Miller. She is survived by her children James and Theresa Jones of Massillon and Carol and James Post of Melbourne, FL; grandchildren Sarah and Elizabeth Jones and Hayley Townsend; brothers Dr. Henry (Mary Lou) Deetz of Dover, Galen (Jan) Deetz of North Canton, Dr. Clayton (Jean) Deetz of AZ and sister Ruth (Harry) Gerber of Walnut Creek; many special nieces and nephews including Ruth Eibel. Calling hours are Monday 5-8 PM in the Arnold Funeral Home Canton. Funeral services are Tuesday 11 AM in the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Bruce Mont officiating.
