Obituary

"Dance the Night Away" Gene J. DiRenzo passed away August 27, 2013 at the age of 88. Born in Canton to the late Giuseppi & Mary DiRenzo, Gene attended Timken Vocational School where at 17 years old he was pulled and drafted into the U.S. Army to fight and protect. Gene was part of the 850,000 soldiers that were in the invasion of France where he received France's highest medal, The French Victory Medal. Returning home he met the one lady he spent the balance of their love life together, Joyce DiRenzo. Gene enjoyed any and all of Cleveland sports along with gardening and mostly ball room dancing along with Joyce (Baby). Gene is survived by three sons: David (Diane) Ellis of Canton, Mark DiRenzo of Massillon, and Mike (Tammy) DiRenzo of Denver, CO. Four grandchildren: Michelle (Chuck) Hillman, Brennan, Haley and Brian. Three great grandchildren: Brielle, Cody, and Kayleigh. Brother: Mark (Terrie) DiRenzo , Sister-in-law: Beverly DeRenzo numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends also survive. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Tony. Funeral service will be 12 Noon Saturday in the Spiker-Foster-Shriver Funeral Home 4817 Cleveland Ave., N.W. with Pastor Gary Smith officiating. A private interment will be in North Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. to 12 Noon. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to a hospice of your choice. Please sign the guest book.
