Gary L. Taylor, age 78, of Massillon, passed away unexpectedly at his home on December 7, 2024. He was born on July 16, 1946 in Canton to the late Charles and Bette (Yarnell) Taylor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Kevin Burgess and his sister Candy Taylor. Gary was a 1964 graduate of Timken Vocational High School and shortly after was drafted into the United States Army where he proudly served his country in the Vietnam War. He was a dedicated employee of Timken Co. for 36 years before retiring. He also owned and operated Caston Shoe Repair with his wife Karen for many years. Following retirement, Gary worked part-time as a security guard for Allied Security which he was currently still doing before his passing. When he wasn't working, Gary enjoyed watching football and NASCAR (RIP#3) and spending time with his friends at their favorite hangout, Jose's Landing. Gary is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Karen (Lashinske) Taylor; his two daughters, Michele Burgess and Kristen (Ron) Bennett; and his son, Troy (Angie) Taylor; 5 grandchildren, Morgan, Jessi, Kasey, Kaitlynn and Austin; 5 great-grandchildren Ariana, Xavier, Anthony, Talia and Liam; as well as many good friends and loving relatives. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 13th from 5:30-7:00 p.m. at the Arnold-Spiker-Foster-Shriver Funeral Home, 4817 Cleveland Ave NW, Canton, OH 44709. A celebration of life will follow at 7 p.m.
