Fredrick W. "Fred" Elsass, age 91, of North Canton died Friday afternoon in Mercy Medical Center after a brief illness. Born in Stark County, Ohio, Fred had formerly been with the Stark County Sheriff's Department was a Juvenile and Adult Probation Officer and retired in 1984 as Canton City park Superintendent. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of North Canton, William McKinley Lodge # 431 F& AM, AASR Valley of Canton, and Tadmor Shrine. Survivors include his wife: Carolyn Elsass of the residence. Four sons: Verle (Ruth) Elsass, Allen (Barbara) Elsass, Frederick LeRoy (Jill) Elsass all of North Canton and Jon (Barbara) Elsass of Shelby, OH. Two sisters: Mrs. Woodrow (Annabel) Wagner and Gloria Travers both of Canton. Numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral service will be Tuesday 11:00 A.M. in Zion Lutheran Church of North Canton with Rev. Mark Sherwindt officiating. Interment will be in North Canton Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday from 5 to 8 P.M. in the Spiker-Foster-Shriver Funeral Home 4817 Cleveland Ave., N.W. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Zion Lutheran Church 349 Lindy Lane N.W. N.Canton, OH 44720
