Fredric John Sarnes, age 62 of Canton, entered the Church Triumphant on Wednesday, January 21, 2009, following a long and valiant battle against cancer. Mr. Sarnes was born in Detroit on September 30, 1946 to the late Myron C. and Ruth Hammer Sarnes. He is survived by his loving life partner of 24 years, B. Thomas Vise of the home and one sister Ann S. Cleary of Fairview, MI. A graduate of Michigan State University in landscape architecture, Fred worked his entire career in the field of lighting design and sales at Michigan Chandelier Co., of Birmingham, MI, Whitmer's Lighting in Fairlawn, OH and most recently at Lighting by Design in Canton. He was also an avid collector of antique Christmas ornaments, and was known for the multiple elaborate theme trees which graced his home every December. Funeral Service will be held Monday at 11:00 A.M. in Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 2254 Triplett Blvd. in Akron, with Rev. Lon Landsmann officiating. Friends may call on Saturday 3:00 - 5:00 P.M. in the Spiker-Foster-Shriver Funeral Home 4817 Cleveland Ave., N and one hour prior to the service in the church. Interment will follow in the family plot at Glen Eden Memorial Park in Livonia, MI.
