Obituary

Franklin Douglas Humphrey, age 76, of North Canton, Ohio went home to be with the Lord on July 3, 2019 at Rose Lane in Massillon.

Visitation will be held on Saturday July 13 from 10am-1pm at The Chapel Green Campus (1800 Raber Rd. Uniontown, OH 44685). The funeral service will immediately follow. A private internment, with Military Honors will be held at Forest Hill Cemetery on a later date. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made to The Chapel Kids Ministry.

Frank was born August 21, 1942 in Canton, Ohio at Mercy Hospital. His early childhood years were spent between living in Lawton, KY and Canton, OH. Frank graduated from Timken High School in 1961. He joined the US Navy in 1963 and was honorably discharged in 1966. He proudly served on the USS Intrepid (CVS-11). At the age of 23 Frank had an accident on board ship which subsequently led to the loss of his left leg to cancer. Due to this injury Frank spend the latter years of his life battling numerous illnesses, although this never stopped Frank from being an active member in society. Frank taught Sunday school and VBS for over 50 years teaching kinds about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He coached little league baseball in Canton South and church basketball for the youth. Frank was PTO President at Waco School and was active with Canton South Band Boosters. Upon moving to Jackson Township, Frank volunteered at Amherst Elementary School and was involved with the Jackson Band Boosters, where he helped run concession stands for various events. In 1992, Frank and his family moved to North Canton, Ohio. Three years later, in 1995 he retired as a machinist from Everhard Products. Upon his retirement Frank began to volunteer at Orchard Hill Elementary School in the computer lab. He was also involved in the Hoover Instrumental Music Association (HIMA) where he served on the Social Committee, Vice-President, and in the 2001-2002 school year as the HIMA President. Frank served as a Host Parent and Area Representative for Youth for Understanding (YFU) from 2001-2013. During this time he and his wife, Holli, hosted three exchange daughters; Lisa Schwartz of Bonn, Germany, Rose Hu of Shanghai, China, and Esther Tenschert of Oslo, Norway.

Frank was a long-time member of The Chapel in Green, for ten years it was his privilege and passion to teach First Grade boys and girls about Jesus' love. He served in many other areas such as a Membership Host, leading the Walking Ministry, the Welcome Desk, and volunteered with Through the Roof Ministries for the disabled.

Frank's activities did not slow down during his stay while at Rose Lane. Frank proudly served as Resident Chaplin and participated in many activities around the facility

Frank was proceeded in death by his Parents: Donald and Olive Humphrey. Brothers: John, Jack, and Thomas "Ross" Humphrey

He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Holli (Comber) Humphrey of North Canton. Sons: Dave (Diane) Humphrey of North Canton, Jeff (Julie) Humphrey of Cuyahoga Falls, Chris (Connie) Humphrey of Green, Don (Stacie) Humphrey of Toledo, and Matt (Kristin) Humphrey of Pont Verda Beach, Florida. Daughters: Heather Hudson of Green and Heidi Humphrey of North Canton.

Also surviving are Grandchildren: Aaron Humphrey, Amber Lettau, Andrew Humphrey, John Humphrey, Amanda Humphrey, Natasha Trujillo, Daphne Humphrey, Crystal Humphrey, Jeffrey Humphrey, Kaitlyn Humphrey, Zoe Humphrey, Joshua Humphrey, Benjamin Humphrey, Sarah Grace Humphrey, Ashley Batdor, Taylor Sattler, Madison Humphrey, Violet Humphrey, Austin Humphrey, and 14 great-grandchildren. Frank will be greatly missed by his Daughters-in-Love, multiple "adopted kids", his nursing home family, and too many friends to count. It would be Frank's desire that we all just "Keep on, keepin' on"
