IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Frances Ann
Allen
February 4, 1928 – April 9, 2018
Frances Ann Allen of Rockville, MD, recently of Canton passed away in her sleep on Monday, April 9th, 2018. She was born in Indiana to the late Alva & Vetha (Ziegler) McMannis. She worked as the office manager for the Congressional Digest Magazine in Washington D.C.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert, to whom she would have celebrated 67 years of marriage, parents, brothers Russell and Donald McMannis, sister Marjorie McMannis Winters, parents in-law Dan & Addie Allen and sisters-in-law Betty "Eileen" Allen (Frank) Granchi and Mary "Peggy" Allen (Mike) Rukavina.
She is survived by her two daughters, Kathy (Robert) Kass of Silver Spring, MD and Susan (Ben) Hindley of Canton as well as her "pride" of grandchildren whom she enjoyed far more than her daughters: Christopher Clagett, Lauren Kass (Adam) Fischman , Travis Hindley, Rory (Jori) Hindley, George (fiancée Hiyana) Hindley, Alex (fiancée Elizabeth) Hindley, Katherine Hindley, and Caroline (James) Hindley Salvato and her 10 great grandchildren. Other survivors are her "little" brother Milan (Virginia) McMannis , Brother-In-Law Ralph Winters (Marjorie), Sister-in-Law Jo Ellen McMannis (Donald) and numerous nieces and nephews.
She will be remembered for her regard for all others above herself, snarky one-liners, and crazy big sandwiches she made for travelers to eat on their tearful trips home from her house. Her love language wasn't ever verbal ("I love ya" with a pat on the back) but always shown through her actions whether it was being there for every farflung family event/emergency, or just a turned down bed with light on in your room, along with Klondike bars and your favorite adult refreshment in the fridge.
Per her wishes, there will be no service and any remembrances should be given in something that is important to you, but perhaps a tribute to her , would be doing nice little things for the folks around you whether it's a Klondike bar or a light on in your room to welcome you home.
