Obituary

Fannie Rosker Freedman, age 95, of Canton, passed away on Saturday morning May 18, 2013. She was born April 24, 1918 in Akron, Ohio to Morris and Gussie (Greenblat) Rosker. She moved to Massillon as a child, where her family started Rosker Auto Parts and graduated from Massillon Washington High School. She was a woman ahead of her time as she managed and helped develop the family business. On March 19, 1939, Fannie married Harry Freedman, the love of her life, and they raised their three children in Massillon. A long-time member of Shaaray Torah Synagogue, Fannie taught Sunday School, was president of Sisterhood, managed the gift shop and volunteered for many activities. Her kitchen had an open door and her table welcomed family and friends. She was a natural caregiver, always more comfortable giving than receiving. After selling the business, they moved to Canton. Fannie and Harry were role models to many. She will be missed for her wisdom, humor, modest sense of dignity and youthful spirit. Preceded in death by her parents; husband of 72 years, Harry Freedman; daughter Sheri Grossman; and brother Sam Rosker. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law Michael (Margaret Susong) of Hudson, Stewart (Jane Berkner) of Akron; son-in-law Ned (Shelly Lazarus) Grossman of Cleveland; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; sister Bea Pearlman of Canton; brother Ben Rosker of Palm Springs, CA. Funeral Services are Monday 11 AM at Shaaray Torah Synagogue with Cantor Bruce Braun officiating. Final resting place is Canton Hebrew Cemetery. Reception at Shaaray Torah following interment. The family also will receive friends at Shaaray Torah from 6-8 PM on Monday night. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Shaaray Torah Synagogue. Arnold 330-456-7291 www.arnoldfuneralhome.com
