IN LOVING MEMORY OF

Everleigh "Evie"

Grace Brumfield

Obituary

Everleigh "Evie" Grace Brumfield, 5, finished her fight against DIPG cancer on Sunday, April 20, 2025. She was filled with joy, and had a spunky and playful attitude in all she did. The last 8 months she fought courageously in the midst of a terrible diagnosis. Yet still she brought joy to everyone she encountered. Countless bracelets sat and strung on the couch, pictures colored, and numerous trips to Target for a little pick-me-up toy or stuffed animal to help soothe the pain of medicine and loss of what she could no longer do.

Evie loved pink, unicorns, princesses - and her favorite word she learned to write: poop. Her silliness was on full display even at the end of her fight. Her tender and loving heart always wanting to make or paint or craft for family, friends, and others. There is so much unfair about her short 5 years, and yet so much joy packed into the final months of her fight with cancer. She loved her brothers, "plotting" with them of how to prank mommy and daddy (thanks to the influence of the various dogs she watched on social media). She loved her mommy, coloring together, doing crafts, eating gluten-free pretzels, getting to wear jewelry together, or trying on mommy's clothes to prank daddy. And her daddy - she grew to really love her daddy over these 8 months. She began to call him "her man" and would fall asleep grasping his arm. When he cried, she would pat his face and say "don't cry daddy." She reminded us that in the pain there is hope.

For throughout it all, the hope of Jesus carried Evie and her family. Each night Evie asked daddy to pray. And then "praying bear" - a stuffed bear which sang quiet and soothing worship songs - played as she fell asleep next to her mommy and daddy, who were with her and by her side until her last breath. Now Evie is no longer in pain. No longer does she have tears about what she cannot do. She is running and dancing and laughing with Jesus, and we rest in the hope of heaven to come - that one day because of the gift and salvation of Jesus, He will make all things new and we will be reunited with our sweet girl. Until then, we take joy in the all too short but oh so beautiful time we had with Evie here on this side of heaven.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving parents Matthew and Gina Brumfield; her loyal brothers, Finnley and Sawyer; her beloved grandparents, David and Debbie Brumfield and Jeff and Rose Gearhart; as well as many other supportive and loving family and friends.

A service to celebrate Evie's life will be held on Saturday, April 26th at 11am at the North Canton Chapel, 715 Whittier Ave NW, North Canton, OH 44720. There will be no formal gathering prior to service.

In honor of Evie, please wear pink on Saturday, her favorite color, so we can fill the room with color just as Evie filled our hearts with indescribable love and joy.

Although Evie loved flowers, in lieu of flowers, please consider donating to DIPG research to hope that in the future no other child and family must suffer.

You may also donate to North Canton Chapel, their church family, which was dear to them and Evie and has cared so well for her these last 8 months.
