Evelyn Z. Salter, age 91, of Hartville, our beloved mother, grandma and great-grandma passed away peacefully in her sleep Monday evening December 2, 2013 while in the care of VNS Hospice. She was born May 2, 1922 in Piedmont, Alabama and spent most of her life in Ohio. She retired from Montgomery Wards in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. Preceded in death by her husband of 57 years Burtis Salter, her infant son Kenneth, her daughter Gayle Thomas and 5 brothers and 2 sisters; she is survived by daughter Connie and Noel Dahlander of Port Charlotte, Florida; sons Glenn and Carol Salter of Tallmadge, Ohio, Tim and Gay Salter of Uniontown, Ohio; grandchildren Rayelle Thomas of Merritt Island, Florida, Jay Thomas of Volente, Texas, Baylen and Leslie Thomas of Brooklyn, New York, Justin and Aimee Salter of Papillion, Nebraska, Bryce Salter of Canton, Ohio, Ashley and Tyler Hennen of Columbus, Ohio; great-grandchildren Karly, Hannah, Gavin and Olivia Salter, Ian and Stellan Thomas, Tegan and Trystan Thomas; sisters Mary Henderson of Ragland, Alabama and Marie Downey of Orlando, Florida; brothers Buck Downey of Akron, Ohio and Wayne Downey of New Orleans, Louisiana; and many family and friends. Calling hours are Friday 4-7 PM at Arnold Funeral Home Hartville and one hour prior to services on Saturday (10-11 AM). Funeral services are Saturday 11:00 AM at the funeral home with Celebrant Kevin O'Brien officiating. Final resting place is Mount Peace Cemetery.
