Obituary

Evelyn Elizabeth (Miller) Marshall joined her husband Louis and her youngest daughter Thyra Marshall in Heaven on July 15, 2011 at Aultman Hospital following a brave fight with heart attack/stroke. She was born January 29, 1916 in Massillon City Hospital to John and Abigail (Braden) Miller. A graduate of Washington High School she worked in a hat store and an aluminum company. She married Louis E. Marshall on Oct. 15, 1938. When WWII sent her husband overseas she went to work with a number of other military wives in a factory making tenting fabric. After the war she and her husband moved to Canton and eventually opened their own Maytag dealership. Evelyn had two daughters Penny and Thyra. She enjoyed attending Church of the Savior United Methodist with her family. She taught Bible School, babysat in the nursery and became a youth counselor with Louis when her daughters were in MYF. She was a loving wife, mother, business woman, and was a hard and dedicated worker and pillar of the community. She was a long time member of the Eastern Star, enjoyed gardening, a bowling league, golfing, and joined the Gyro Club of Stark County with Louis. She also enjoyed cooking, baking, decorating, entertaining, crafting and playing cards with friends. In her retirement years she enjoyed reading books, magazines, and newspapers as well as raising money for charity. Her greatest love was taking care of her family. She is survived by her daughter Penny, nieces Judi Miller, Sandy (Lee) Dycus, of Massillon and Canton, and Marilyn Miller of Indiana; as well as many nieces and nephews on her husband's side of the family. She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters Violet Miller, Twila Miller, Helen Fuchs, and Brother Walter Braden. The family would like to thank Dr. Stanley Bertman and Dr. Hill and Dr. Sabota for taking such good care of Evelyn during her illness. The Spiker, Foster, Shriver Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements. Cremation has already taken place and there will be no public service. A private memorial service will be held at the home of her daughter Penny.
