Evelyn W. Caron, age 104 of Canton, passed away Thursday morning, January 17, 2013 in Aultman Hospital, just one day shy of her 105th birthday. She was born January 18, 1908 in Union City, Indiana to Emmett and Anna (Schoup) Klinger and has been a resident of Canton since the 1920's. Evelyn worked at the Harter Bank in downtown Canton where she was the manager of the Safe Deposit Vault for many years, retiring in 1965. Mrs. Caron loved traveling with her friends, was a voracious reader and from the time she was young was a crafter who was particularly gifted with crochet. Her handcrafted items will always be treasured by family and friends. Her proudest accomplishment was raising her son. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph in 1941 and a brother Edward Klinger. She is survived by her family whom she dearly loved including a son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Susan Caron of Columbus; grandchildren, Elizabeth Susan Caron of Massachusetts, Jodene Ann Caron-Buchanan of Dublin, Ohio, Carolyn Kathleen (Joseph) Roman of Canton, Georgia; great grandchildren, Collin Joseph and Brooke Ann Buchanan, Ariel Elizabeth, Charlotte Kathleen and Grant Holleran Roman. Evelyn's life has been an inspiration to her family and friends and has been a wonderful example in courageously overcoming adversity. A memorial service will be Saturday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. in the Canton Christian Home with Ron Iwanusa officiating. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
