Evelyn "Evie" F. Althouse, age 77, of North Canton, passed away Tuesday morning May 10, 2011 at Aultman Hospital. She was born February 6, 1934 in Stockdale, Ohio to Rev. Paul and Muna (Hamilton) Fisher. Evie was a School Teacher in the Canton City School System and had also taught pre-school at Malone College. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in North Canton and was a graduate of Taylor University. She served as a US-2 for the United Methodist Mission Board at Campbell Friendship House in Gary, Indiana and was very active in United Methodist Women. Mrs. Althouse thoroughly enjoyed her students and worked with the Safe Sanctuaries program providing child protective services at churches. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Rev. Jay Althouse; three daughters and sons-in-law, Kay and Scott Low of Solon, Ohio, Dr. Dee and Thomas Tilleman of Havre, Montana, Joy and Michael Walker of Minneapolis, Minnesota; sister, Mary Kauffman of Normal, Illinois; brother, David Fisher of Grand Junction, Colorado; grandchildren, Josh, Lizzy and Sam Low, Evan and Margaret Walker, Daniel and Katie Tilleman. Funeral Services will be Monday 11:00 a.m. at Faith United Methodist Church with Rev Steve and Cara Stultz-Costello officiating. Calling hours are Sunday 3-6:00 p.m and one hour prior to the service at Faith United Methodist Church in North Canton.
