Evelyn S. Adelman, age 81, of Canton, a loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away Thursday night April 24, 2008. She was born in Akron, Ohio on July 21, 1926 to the late Max and Bertha Stern and graduated from West High School. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Sidney Z. Adelman in 1989. They were happily married 40 wonderful years and together they owned and operated ADCO Distributors Inc. in Canton, OH. They loved to travel together with friends. Evelyn was an active member of Shaaray Torah Synagogue and served on their Board of Directors and on numerous committees. She was also a member of Shaaray Torah Synagogue Sisterhood and Hadassah. A dedicated Community Volunteer, Evelyn was active with the Canton Jewish Community Center, especially committed to the senior adult program and Meals on Wheels. She was a generous supporter of the Arts and health related charities. Survived by her daughter Beth Adelman of Dayton; son and daughter-in-law, Barry and Michelle Adelman of Canton; four grandchildren Zachary, Sarah, Nathan and Michael Adelman; sisters-in-law Rosaline Stern of RI and Miriam Adelman of Columbus; many nieces and nephews and many loving friends. Preceded in death by brother Charles Stern and brothers-in-law, Ben and David Adelman. Funeral services are Monday 3 PM at Shaaray Torah Synagogue with Cantor Bruce Braun officiating. Final resting place is Canton Hebrew Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to sit Shiva following the service, and Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings at the Evelyn S. Adelman residence. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Sidney and Evelyn Adelman Fund at the Canton Jewish Center or to The American Cancer Society (Girl Power Team).
