Eugene H. Sheidlower, age 80, of North Canton, passed away Sunday morning, August 7, 2011 in Mercy Medical Center. Gene was born in New York City, NY on July 20, 1931 to the late Max and Fannie (Schwartzberg) Sheidlower. Gene graduated from the New York School of Industrial Arts and was a colorist in the animation department for NBC-TV. He relocated to Canton in 1955 and was a retail merchant. He later owned and operated Baskin Robbins and the Hot Pretzels n Stuff in the Mellett Mall. He is survived by his wife, Carole, with whom he celebrated 55 years of marriage on June 24, 2011; daughters, Linda (Howard) Smuckler of Canton, Susan (Scott) Zanon of Columbus; son David (Donna) Sheidlower of Columbus; grandchildren, Adam and Eric Prescott of Canton, Benjamin and Samuel Sheidlower of Columbus; brother Stanley (Edith) Sheidlower of Palm Beach Gardens, FL.; sister-in-law Thelma (Phil) Borcover of San Marcos, CA; several nieces and nephews. Services will be held Wednesday, 11:00 a.m. in the Arnold Funeral Home in Canton with Cantor Bruce Braun officiating. Internment in Canton Hebrew Cemetery. The family will hold Shiva at the home of Linda and Howard Smuckler at 2355 Bur Oak St. NE, Canton, OH 44705 on Wednesday and Thursday evening from 7:00-9:00 pm. The family wishes to thank the many doctors who cared for Gene and the nurses and staff at Mercy Medical Center for their kindness and care.
