Obituary

Eugene B. Jester left this mortal life and went on to life eternal on March 27, 2014 at the Canton Christian Home. Born in Canton on April 17, 1924, he was preceded in death by his parents, James V. and Bessie and a sister Helen. Gene was a 1960 graduate of Kent State University with a B.S. degree in elementary education. He taught six years prior to post graduate work at Miami University in organic and inorganic chemistry. Gene was active in many local and national organizations. He was a lifetime member of Christ Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder and Deacon. As an Eagle Scout he served Troop 8 for 50 years. As a national park ranger, he was a lifetime member of the National Park Service alumni. He was also an active member of the Natural History Museum, Natures Conservancy, Wilderness Center, American Guild of Organists and the Canton Writers Guild. Gene's friends would like to extend sincere thanks to the caring staff of the Canton Christian Home and Aultman Hospice team for their loving and compassionate care during his declining years. A memorial service will be Sunday, April 6, 2014, 12:15 PM at Christ Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. David deVries officiating. Gene's cremains will be interred at Foxfield Preserve at the Wilderness Center. Memorial donations may be sent to Christ Presbyterian Church, Camp Wakonda, 530 W.
