Esther Jeanette (Basner) Hollinger, born April 7, 1925, passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, after an extended illness. She was 98 and a resident of the Canton Christian Home. She was predeceased by her parents, John and Miriam Basner, husband Lawrence Hollinger, brother Paul Basner, and daughter Susan Reese.

She is survived by son Thomas (Faye) Hollinger of St. Albans, WV, grandsons Timothy (Stacy) Reese of Massillon, OH, Jordan (Alicia) Hollinger of Lexington, KY, Jared (Morgan) Hollinger of Ona, WV, granddaughter Jessica (Alex) Moore of Massillon, OH, niece Joyce (Dave) Greek of North Canton, nephew Greg (Pam) Hollinger of Bluffton, SC, and eight great grandchildren.

Esther, a lifelong resident of Canton, graduated from Lincoln and Timken High Schools in 1942, and attended Bowling Green State University where she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. She worked as a legal secretary at the Law Offices of Black, McCuskey, Souers & Arbaugh, and later worked at Diebold, Inc. where she was Secretary to the President, and Secretary to the Legal Advisor and to the Chief Engineer.

As a member of First Baptist Church, Canton, she was heavily involved in the church's ministries including: director of various youth choirs, handbell choirs, pianist, VBS Director, Sunday School teacher as well as serving on many boards and committees. She worked as the Office Manager and Secretary at First Baptist Church and at Church of the Master consecutively. She was a current member of First Baptist Church, Massillon.

Throughout her life she taught piano to over 100 students, many who pursued music professionally. Her unwavering Christian faith, which infused every aspect of her life, has had a lasting impact on the lives of those who knew her.

A memorial service will be held at Arnold Funeral Home, 1517 Market Ave North, Canton, OH, Friday January 5, 2024, at 11:00 am with visitation 10-11:00 am. Dr. Roger S. Alber will officiate.
