Ester Jelen, age 78, formerly of Canton died Thursday morning November 26, 2015 in Columbus. She was born in Canton on January 12, 1937 one of three daughters to Lester and Anna (Kresky) Rice. She graduated from Timken High School and married Fred Jelen. They had been married for 45 years when he died October 15, 2015. She was a member of Temple Israel. After her children were raised, she enjoyed working at the Information Center at Belden Village Mall for over 15 years. Preceded in death by her parents, husband, Fred, and 2 sisters Dorothy Leedman and Catherine Carmen; she is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Leslie and Scott Rittenberg of Geneva, IL; son and daughter-in-law Scott and Dr. Daryl Cottrell Jelen of Columbus; grandchildren Zachary and Alix Ann Rittenberg and Maximilian Jelen. A graveside service will be held Tuesday 12:30 PM at North Lawn Cemetery with Rabbi Jon Adland officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Temple Arnold 330-456-7291
