Elmer Paul White, age 81, of Canton went to be with the Lord Monday night October 24, 2011 after a long illness. He was born in Canton, Ohio on November 10, 1929 and graduated from Lehman High School. He was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corp and served honorably from 1946- 1948. Elmer spent his life in building trades and was a member of the Carpenters Union. He was a member of McKinley Lodge No. 431 F & AM, 32nd degree Scottish Rite. Elmer was known for his positive attitude, great wit and an endless sense of humor. He was a man whose door was always open to friends and neighbors. His artwork is enjoyed by many friends and family. He also enjoyed cooking. Survived by his wife of 62 years Nancy Jane (Ley); daughter Cynthia Sue Winston of Florida; sons and daughters-in-law Timothy Paul and Jean White of North Canton, Patrick Michael and Edee White of AZ, James L. Thomas and Debra White of Akron; grandchildren Jyl (Brett) Lones of Canton, Joseph (Cari) D'Augustine of Canton, Joshua White of North Canton, Gerald Vance III of Norton; great-grandchildren Taylor, Paige and Camryn Lones; sister Marlene (Richard) Yohe of FL and brother David (Gabriel) Simon of North Canton; brother-in-law Glen Richardson of Canton; aunt Patsy Stan of Canton; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by father Elmer T. White, mother Miriam (Galloway) Hartley, sister Janet Richardson. Calling hours are Monday 5-8 PM and one hour prior to services Tuesday (12 noon- 1 PM) at the Arnold Funeral Home Canton. Funeral services are Tuesday 1 PM at the funeral home.
