Elmer "Al" Paul Priore passed away on Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at the age of 91. He was born on January 11, 1932 in Pittsburgh, PA, the second son of Albert and Florence (Carnivale) Priore. He graduated from South Hills High School, Class of 1949. He attended Duquesne University and was drafted and proudly served in the U.S. Army. He moved to North Canton, OH in 1968. He was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, serving as a CDC teacher and usher, as well as a member of The Knights of Columbus Council 3777 and 4th Degree Assembly 828. He had a successful 26-year sales career with Personal Products Company, a division of Johnson and Johnson, during which time he was awarded the company's highest honors before retiring in 1993. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, reading, puzzles, and his computer. He will be lovingly remembered as a talented jitterbugger, collector and sharer of jokes, but, especially as a helper to others and an extremely devoted family man and caretaker for those he loved.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Helen (Durci), his parents, and sons-in-law Douglas Kent Zimmerman II and Stephen Douglas Brinkley. He is survived by wife, I. Marie (Giometti); daughters, Renice (Priore) Zimmerman of VA and Sherri (Priore) Brinkley of TN. Also survived by sons, Paul (Gail) Sunderland of OH/PA, Dr. John Sunderland (Shelley Piquard) of KY, David Sunderland of VA, Joe Sunderland of OH; and daughter, Kathleen (Sunderland) (Giorgio) DiPaolo of PA. He was a proud grandfather to 4 grandsons and 4 granddaughters, as well as 2 great-grandchildren. He leaves behind 3 brothers, Albert James Jr. and Harold of PA and Gerard of TX, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10:00am Saturday at St. Paul's Catholic Church in North Canton, with Father Simon Mino as officiant. Procession to the church will form at Arnold & Spiker-Foster-Shriver Funeral Home 4817 Cleveland Ave NW beginning at 8:30am. Final resting place will be at North Lawn Cemetery.
