Obituary

Elmer C. Hoobler, age 88, of Malvern died Saturday morning in Oakhill Manor Care Center after a brief illness. Born in Canton he lived here until moving to Malvern 30 years ago. A 1940 graduate of McKinley High School he was also an Army Veteran of WWII. Mr. Hoobler was retired from the Bonnot Company, was a member of Malvern United Methodist Church, and the Minerva American Legion Post 357. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant son, brother David Hoobler, and a sister Mary Johanning. Survivors include his wife: Georgia E. Hoobler. Three daughters: Rebecca (Thomas) McCallin, Tammy (Keith) Kent, and Sandra Winger. Three sons: Daniel (Linda), Lee (Vickie) and Timothy Hoobler. Grandchildren: Tracey, Shelly, Sarah, Denielle, Megan, Dustin, Matthew, Emily and Nathaniel. Nine great grandchildren. Three sisters: Eleanor Clausen, Wilma Salamon and Helen Sanders. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the entire staff of at Oakhill Manor for the care extended to their Dad. Funeral service will be 6:00 P.M. Tuesday in the Spiker-Foster-Shriver Funeral Home 4817 Cleveland Ave., N.W. with Rev. Allen Hill officiating. Friends may call on Tuesday from 3 to 6 p.m. A private interment will take place for the family. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Minerva American Legion Post 357 103 E. Line St. Minerva, OH 44657.
