Elmer C. Gruber, age 99, of Canton, died peacefully Wednesday afternoon in the Canton Christian Home. Born in Marietta, Ohio to the late Vernon and Effie (Lolathin) Gruber. Elmer was a graduate of McKinley Senior High School. He worked for the Timken Company and then the Ford Motor Company where he retired as a tool and die maker. Elmer enjoyed camping and fishing. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Marie; daughter, Roberta Nibert and grandson Michael Nibert. Elmer is survived by his son, Robert (Nancy) Gruber of North Carolina and son-in-law, William Nibert of Boardman, Ohio. Grandchildren; Mark (Jana) Gruber, Jeffrey (Angie) Gruber, LeAnn (Carl) Heide, Cynthia (Matt) Allen, Teri Nibert and Vicki (Robert) Findysz. Ten great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral service will be 9:45 a.m. Saturday in the Canton Christian Home with Chaplain Ron Iwanusa officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
