Ellen L. Speyer, age 53 of Columbus passed away Monday afternoon in Doctor's Hospital in Columbus. She was born September 21, 1955 in Canton to Jack and Catherine Speyer. She graduated from Glenwood High School in 1973, attended Kent State University and received her Associate's degree from Muskingum Area Technical College in Zanesville, Ohio. Ellen loved animals, especially cats and supported Cat Welfare and the Capital Area Humane Society. She is survived by her mother, Catherine "Kay" Speyer Saul of Painesville, Ohio; sister and brother-in-law, Suzy and Gregg Grimes of Hilliard, Ohio; brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Suzanne Speyer of Painesville, Ohio; nieces and nephews, Lee and Jake Grimes, Markee, Lindsey and Zachery Speyer; caregiver and friend, Miranda Thomas; ex-husband and friend, Jack Lelko. She was preceded in death by her father, Jack Speyer, brother, Mark Speyer and step-father, Herbert Saul. A graveside funeral service will be Thursday 11:00 a.m. at North Lawn Cemetery with Rabbi Leah Herz officiating.
