Obituary

Elizabeth (Betty) Mae Domer, age 87, of Hartville, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday October 7, 2017. She was born on July 5, 1930 to the late Clinton A. and Edna F. Koontz. She was a 1948 graduate of Hartville High School and she attended Heidelberg College. She married Dale Domer on January 21, 1951 and they were married 64 years. She retired after 36 ½ years as a Postal Service employee, 25 of which she served as Hartville' s Postmaster. When she retired she left with the old verse, which was in her desk for years: I shall pass this way but once, therefore, any good I can do or any kindness that I can show- Let me do it now- For I shall not pass this way again.

Betty served as Secretary-Treasurer to the Canton Sectional Center Postmasters for 19 years. She served as Secretary of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) Canton McKinley Chapter #241. Also, she was a member of AARP, Lake Sr. Citizens, and Hartville Church of the Brethren.

Having spent several winters in Florida, Betty served as a reporter on the monthly newspaper of The Village of Holiday Lake for 10 years. Later, she served as a reading tutor to a second grade student each winter season. This program was offered by the Myakka River Elementary School in co-operation with the church Domers attended.

Preceded in death by the love of her life Dale Domer; siblings Tomas Koontz and Geraldine Myers; and siblings-in-law Goldie Anstine, Virgil and Melvin Domer. She is survived by nieces and nephews Robyn Richards, Beth (Scott) Herthel, Pat (Tom) Miller, John (Lisa) Anstine, Betsy Walhert, Deb (Michael Dietrich) Anstine, David (Tina) Domer, Denise (Duane) Steinly, Darrell (Christine) Domer, Joyce (David) Mohler, Janet Byrd, Dean (Debbie) Domer; God-daughter Colleen Carson; special grandson Tannor Boston and his mother Daphne; numerous special friends including Carol Ringer; and numerous great-nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are Thursday 4-7 PM and an hour prior to services Friday 10-11 AM all at Hartville Church of the Brethren. Services are 11 AM in the church with Pastor Anthony DiMarco officiating. Final resting place is Mount Peace Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
