Elizabeth "Betty" Herrington-Matchner, age 88, died Monday, July 23rd, in Fort Myers, Florida where she had lived for the past 25 years. Born in Oakdale, PA on September 17, 1923 to Perry and Agnes (Campbell) Tarr. She graduated from Westminster College and received her masters from Kent State University. Betty taught at Hoover High School for more than 30 years. A charter member of Faith United Methodist Church of North Canton, and an associate member of Grace Church Olga- Fort Myers Shores Campus. Betty was a past matron of the Augusta Chapter and member of the Legacy Chapter Order of the Eastern Star. In addition to her parents, Betty is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Orin Herrington and a sister Amy. She is survived by her second husband; Frank Matchner, Jr., daughter and son - in-law, Nancy and Michael Poole of Sinking Spring, Pennsylvania; son, and daughter-in-law Keith and Lynette Herrington of Canton. 3 grandchildren: Brian and Kevin Poole and Crissy Herrington; 3 great grandchildren and a brother, Scotty Tarr of Atlanta also survives. Funeral Service and Eastern Star tribute will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 28th in Faith United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Herrington Cemetery, Mechanicstown, Ohio. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service in church on Saturday.
