Obituary

Eli J. Hostetler, age 78 of Canton, formerly of Hartville, entered eternal glory Wednesday March 5, 2008. He was born May 20, 1929 in Salt Creek, Ohio to the late Jonas and Lizzie Hostetler and was one of thirteen children. Eli was an Army Korean War Veteran. He worked for F. E. Schumacher Lumber Co. for 25 years and then retired from Teledyne Monarch Rubber Co. He was a lifetime member of Hartville Mennonite Church, and member of American Legion Post 44, VFW #3747, DAV Chapter 6, and the Korean Conflict Veterans of America. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, Eli faithfully volunteered at the Canton VA Clinic. On Wednesdays, he played Euchre with his buddies. He was a member of the Stark County Sheriff's Dept. Auxiliary, and was active with the children's DARE tours. He loved to fish, loved animals, wildlife, bluegrass music and especially his family. Preceded in death by his wife Betty Mae (Stoll); he is survived by his children: Rick (Barbara) Hostetler of VA, Debbie (Jerry) Graber of Hartville, Tammy Jarrett of Columbus; 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; 7 siblings; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Friends may call Sunday 2-5 PM in the Arnold Funeral Home, Hartville. Funeral services are Monday 11 AM in the funeral home with Dr. Dave Hall and Pastor Henry Shrock officiating.
