Elaine (Smuckler) Tenenbaum, age 84, of Canton, passed away Thursday morning, June 4, 2009 in Aultman Hospital. Elaine was born in Canton on April 8, 1925 to the late Harry and Lena (Block) Smuckler. She graduated from Lehman High School in 1942 and retired from the Akro Corporation after 30 years of service in 1995. Elaine was a member of Temple Israel where she volunteered for many years. Also a member of Hadassah, the Canton Jewish Community Center and its Senior Adult Program and delivered Meals on Wheels. Preceded in death by her husband Harry Tenenbaum on Sept 25, 1995 and by three sisters. Survived by a son and daughter-in-law Mark and Judy Tenenbaum of Canton; two daughters and sons-in-law Sheryl and Bruce White of Canton, Jan and Jonathan Miller of Demarest, NJ.; two brothers and sisters-in-law Allen and Pauline Smuckler and Hersh and Harlene Smuckler all of Canton; Nine grandchildren, Stephen, Jonathan and Andrew Slesnick; Justin (Sarah) and Geoffrey White; Jeff and Robby Miller; Jenna and Bradley Tenenbaum. Services will be held on Monday at 11:00 AM at Temple Israel with Rabbi John Spitzer officiating. Interment in North Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Jewish Family Services, 2631 Harvard Ave. NW, Canton, OH 44709.The family will observe Shiva at the home of Sheryl and Bruce White from 7:00-9:00 pm from Monday through Wednesday evening.
