Eileen M. Gatschet, age 87, of Canton, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday July 18, 2013 with her daughter and niece by her side. She was born in Canton on May 3, 1926 to the late Oscar W. and Beulah Zaiser. She married Eugene C. Gatschet on November 3, 1944 and they celebrated 58 years of marriage before he passed on June 11, 2003. She was a member of First Evangelical Congregational Church and participated in many groups and activities including singing in the choir, teaching Sunday School, Bible School and Wednesday night Children's Church and she was active in Missionary Society. She loved to quilt and flower gardening. Mostly, she loved the Lord and her family. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Lanee and Wray Weisler of Hartville; daughter-in-law Sandra Gatschet of Canton; grandchildren Michelle (John) Ayers, Amy (Chuck) Gibson, Sean (Jami) Weisler, Justin (Megan) Weisler and Grant Gatschet; great-grandchildren John and Tyler Ayers, Zoe, Brandon and Trent Gibson, Landon and Austin Weisler, Cameron Scott and one great-granddaughter on the way; sister Ruth Parr of Canton; sister-in-law Nancy Zaiser Butterfield; family on the Gatschet side; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene; son Gary Gatschet; sister Catherine Reed and brother Jim Zaiser. Calling hours are Monday 9:30-11:00 AM and funeral services begin at 11:00 AM all at First Evangelical Congregation Church. Pastor Andy Miller will officiate. Final resting place is North Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Evangelical Congregation Church, 1509 Broad Ave NW, Canton.
