Obituary

Edward Joseph Sivy, age 82, was called home to the Lord on May 31, 2025. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Ed lived a life rooted in faith, love, and service to others.

Born on November 1, 1942, Ed was a proud graduate of Timken Vocational High School and later attended Ohio University. He dedicated 37 years of his professional life to Babcock & Wilcox in Barberton, Ohio, where he was respected for his integrity, diligence, and kindness.

A faithful and longtime parishioner of Little Flower Catholic Church, Ed lived out his Catholic faith quietly but profoundly. He found strength in the sacraments, joy in service, and peace in prayer. He was especially devoted to his family, raising his sons in the faith and actively supporting them through years of coaching and volunteering with Marlboro Baseball.

Ed loved the outdoors and the simple joys of God's creation—splitting wood, collecting sap on his farm to make maple syrup, and spending time on the golf course with friends. He had the God-given gift of making others feel welcome, often striking up heartfelt conversations with strangers that quickly turned into friendships.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Johanna; his brother, Paul; and his beloved infant son, Kevin, whom he now joins in eternal life.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 62 years, Carolyn; his children Mark, Greg, Derek (Amy), and Brian; and his ten beloved grandchildren: Karen, Paul, Jenna, Lauren, Logan Pasterchek, Jarred Pasterchek, Owen Pasterchek, Tessa, Lucas, and Christopher. He is also survived by his siblings Michael Jr., Kathleen Moore, Steven, John, James, Thomas, Mary Bauer, and David, with whom he shared deep and enduring bonds.

Family and friends will be received at Arnold Funeral Home (504 W Maple St, Hartville, OH 44632) from 5-8pm on Thursday, June 5. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Little Flower Catholic Church (2040 Diamond St NE, Canton, OH 44721) on Friday, June 6 at 11 am, with the Rite of Committal to follow at Marlboro Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dementia Society of America (www.dementiasociety.org).

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." – 2 Timothy 4:7
