Edward Overholt, age 86, of Hartville followed the white lines of the highway to his eternal destination in Heaven on August 14th, 2025.  He was born in Princess Anne Virginia on November 22, 1938, as one of 12 to the late Jerome and Rebecca (Lapp) Overholt.  Ed moved to Hartville when he was an infant and attended Lake Center Christian School.  At the age of 25 he purchased his first semi-truck and continued as an independent owner / operator for 50 years.  Some of his favorite hobbies included engineering and tinkering with his various tractor projects, photography, audio recordings, and driving the chorus bus.

He cherished his family, spending time with his children and grandchildren and their various activities.  He was a devoted follower of Christ and a member of Bethany Mennonite Church.  Many remember him as a caring and encouraging person.

Ed is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Loveda Mullet, Andrew Overholt, Magdalena Denlinger, Lydia Smart, Iva Miller, and Linda Bailey.

He is survived by his devoted wife Leona of 62 years; children Arlen Overholt (Isabel Trautwein), Rodella (Bob) Brown, and Lisa (Kirby) Mast; grandchildren Alex Brown, Sawyer (Holly) Brown, Tamara (Jared) Rosenberger, Maria Brown, A.J. Mast, Evanne Mast, and McKenzie Mast; great grandchildren Zora, Declan, and Elora; siblings Ruth Detweiler, Fran (Elma) Overholt, Steve (Carolyn) Overholt, Will (Lavonne) Overholt, and James (Emma) Overholt.

Calling hours will be Monday, August 18, at Bethany Mennonite Church from 4-7 PM.

Committal will be at 9 AM on Tuesday, August 19, at Walnut Grove Cemetery followed by a Celebration of Life service at 10:30 at Bethany Mennonite Church.
