Edward "Coach" Marshall, age 81, of Suffield, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday morning October 2, 2008 at the Hospice Care Center. Born in Lakemore, Ohio on November 12, 1926 to the late Frank and Ruth (Sellhorn) Marshall, he was a 1944 graduate of Springfield High School. Ed was a WW II Army Veteran who then went on to graduate from Kent State University. He had a 35 year career as a teacher and coach at Suffield, Uniontown, Lake and Marlington Middle Schools. Ed had an extremely successful career as a coach of basketball and football at Lake High School and was inducted into The Lake Athletic Hall of Fame. A member of The Chapel of Marlboro, he played piano for his Sunday School Class and wrote seven hymns. For years, Ed enjoyed fishing at his cottage in Canada, and loved landscaping and gardening. He was so proud of and loved deeply all his family especially his grandchildren. Survived by his wife of 58 years Ann (Heddleston); sons Frank and Liz of Rootstown, Edward G. of Suffield, Jerry and Cindy of Louisville; grandchildren Katie, Steve and Ashley; brother Robert and Charlotte of AL; and many other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by uncle Joe Marshall and nephew Rick Marshall. Calling hours are Monday 4-7 PM at The Chapel of Marlboro followed immediately by a memorial service at 7 PM in the church with Pastor Joel Cochran officiating.
