It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. Edgar Louis Shriver on April 28, 2017. He was born in Canton on April 1, 1927. The Shriver family were among the earliest residents of the Canton area, starting in 1804. Edgar was preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Clara Shriver, his older brother George Shriver, and his second wife Sara Shriver. He married Beatrice Shriver in 1951, Sara Shriver in 1961, and the former Leona Lacoy in 1996. Edgar and Leona were vacationing in Egypt when he took ill, and he passed away in Corfu, Greece. They resided in Aventura, Florida. He is survived by his wife Leona and her daughters Evelyn Isaia and Laura Wuarin, and her son-in-law Daniel Isaia. He leaves his son John Shriver and his wife Diane, and their daughter Laura. He leaves his daughter Katherine Shriver, son Craig Shriver, and son Paul Shriver and his wife Sandra and their children Gus and Sara. He leaves the children of his late brother George, Sandra Yingst and her husband Joe, and George Shriver, Jr. Edgar graduated from Washington and Jefferson College in 1950 for a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology, University of Rochester for a Master of Arts in 1951, and received a PhD from the university of Pittsburgh in 1953. He was a member of Phi Kappa Sigma fraternity at W&J. He served in the Navy from 1945-1946. He worked as a research psychologist in the field of manpower training at American Institutes for Research, HumRRO, Matrix Corporation, and his own company, Kinton. In retirement he was inventing and patenting medical devices. He was an amateur architect and antiquarian, interested in vintage cars, family history, art collecting, movies, and cooking. The Memorial service was May 6 at the Spiker-Foster Shriver Funeral Home, 710 Tuscarawas Street West, Canton Ohio. Burial is private at West Lawn Cemetery. Please sign the guest book.
