Edward Langenbach D'Atri, 86, of Hartville passed away peacefully on Friday, August 2, 2024. Lang was born on June 17, 1938, in Canton, Ohio to Alexander and Donna (Helwig) D'Atri. He grew up in Hartville and graduated from Hartville High School before attending Brown University, receiving his Bachelor of Arts in 1960. He continued his education at the University of Cincinnati College of Law where he obtained his Juris Doctor (JD). Lang then pursued and obtained his Master of Laws (LLM) at Northwestern University. He was admitted to the Bar in 1963.
Lang worked as a lawyer in Canton for his entire career. He also served as a director of Unizan Financial Corporation, formerly United National Bank. Throughout his career he was proud to serve as a trustee or officer for many organizations including the Canton Art Institute, Canton Montessori School, Cultural Center for the Arts, Multi-County Juvenile Attention System, Ohio State Skeet Shooting Association, The Canton Club, Aultman Association, Lake Local Board of Education, Mount Union College Advisory Board, Congress Lake Club, The Toussaint Club, Lake YMCA and Stark County Foundation. He is credited with establishing the Hartville Area Community Charitable Trust.
He pursued his hobbies with gusto frequently spending his leisure time in nature whether on hunting or fishing trips or tending to the family farm in Hartville where he lived for much of his life. He also traveled to Naples, Florida regularly, even living there part-time for several years. In his later years he loved reading Hemingway, researching Canton history and rooting for the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cleveland Guardians.
Lang is survived by his son Ted D'Atri (Cecilia); his daughters Kris D'Atri Rapport (Jeremy) and Ellen D'Atri (Scott); his grandchildren: Ed D'Atri, Billie D'Atri, Rafael Gonzalez, Clara Danhof, Laura Rapport, Gabriel Gonzalez and Drew Rapport; and his great-grandchild Teddy D'Atri. He was preceded in death by his sister Barbara Rosa D'Atri and his brother Geoffrey Alexander D'Atri.
