Obituary

Doug Leopold, age 60 of Canton passed away on Wednesday June 25, 2014. He was born in Canton on March 31, 1954, graduated from Lehman High School and attended Kent State. Doug spent most of his life in Canton with earlier periods in Texas and Florida. He moved back to Canton where he met the love of his life Janice Rea and his sidekick dog Brody, and also to care for his mother Evelyn and grow his power washing business. Preceded in death by his father Leonard Leopold in 1973; he is survived by his mother Evelyn; sister Barbara King, brothers David and Howard (Marsha) Leopold; uncle Jim Barnett; nieces and nephews; and girlfriend Janice. Doug's accomplishments were many and varied including The Sanford & Jacob Furman Hall of Fame Award for outstanding athletics at the Jewish Community Center. He was known as the Founder and President of Stark County Browns Backers Club. As the President, Doug was responsible for many charitable events for groups throughout the community. He will truly be missed. His efforts were generous and unselfish. A Memorial Service for the Family will be held Wednesday.
