Dorothy Wenger

Dorothy Helena Wenger (nee Immel), age 101, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2026.

Dorothy was born on August 26, 1925, in Canton, Ohio, to Glenwood and Martha Immel. She graduated from Middlebranch High School in 1944. Following graduation, Dorothy was employed by the Hoover Company as a secretary. During World War II, she also worked on the military production line, installing proximity fuses in support of the war effort.

On December 7, 1946, Dorothy married Harold Benjamin Wenger. They shared 75 years of marriage, building a life centered around family, faith, and farming. Dorothy worked alongside her husband as a devoted farmer’s wife. They were blessed with three children: Alice (late husband Wayne) Snyder, James (late wife Connie) Wenger, and Darrell (Madelyn) Wenger.

Dorothy and Harold were lifelong members of Werner United Methodist Church, where their faith remained an important part of their lives. Dorothy cherished her many friendships and loved spending time with friends playing cards and socializing. She found joy in cooking and baking, quilting, doll collecting, gardening, and Bible Study.

Dorothy will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her strong faith, her many friendships, and the love and care she shared throughout her long and meaningful life.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harold; her parents, Glenwood and Martha Immel; and her dear granddaughter, Julie Wenger Jones.

Dorothy also leaves behind her grandchildren, James Wenger Jr. (Julie), Jason Wenger, Rachel (George) Pelosi, Melody Bauman, Erin Wenger, Adam (Ashley) Snyder, and Caitlin Tomlinson; as well as many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind many cherished friends and extended family members who will lovingly remember her.

The family requests that memorial donations be made to Werner United Methodist Church.

Calling hours will be Tuesday, September 29, 2026, from 10 – 11:30 AM at the Arnold Funeral Home in Hartville. Funeral services will be at 11:30 AM in the funeral home with Rev. Tony Jones. Final resting place is St. Jacob’s Cemetery.
