Dorothy E. McCoy, age 98 of Canton passed away Wednesday evening January 12, 2011 in her home. She was born January 5, 1913 in Evansville, Indiana. Dorothy was a 1930 McKinley High School graduate. She then began a working career that lasted 70 years. She first worked for the Hoffbrau Haus then from 1934 to 1938 Taggarts, 1938-1940 M.B. Belden Oil and Gas office, 1940-1942 Congress Lake Club, 1942-1980 Alliance Machine and 1980 to 2000 the Information and Referral service for the Stark County United Way. Dorothy loved quilting for her family, was an avid reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles. Always very active, she enjoyed extensive traveling in her 70's to Alaska, Hawaii, China and many locations throughout the Mediterranean. She is survived by a sister, Florence M. Belden of Canton; nephews, Marshall Belden of North Canton, Tim (Kay) Belden of East Sparta, Bruce (Chris) Leaman of North Canton; nieces, Sue Belden of Plain Township, Barbara Leaman of Canton; grand nieces and nephew, Jocelyn and Nicole Belden and Woodson Close. The family extends a heart felt thank-you to Dorothy's caregivers, Doris, Becky, Aletha, Cindy, Renee and Patsy and also a special tribute to her good friend and primary caregiver, Diana Belden. There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, January 19, 2011, 11:00 a.m.. at the Arnold Funeral Home in Canton with Rev. Thomas Houston of John Knox Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment will be in Paducah, Kentucky.
