Dorothy Mae Schoner Hanlon, age 93, of Hartville, passed away Sunday June 5, 2016. She was born in Uniontown, Ohio to Blanche and Earl Schoner on April 26, 1923, graduated from Uniontown High School and attended Kent State University, where she was a member of Alpha Phi Sorority. She worked as an Executive Secretary for Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company until 1948, where she met Frank R. Hanlon. They were married at St. John's Lutheran Church in Uniontown on November 27, 1948 and made their home in Hartville. Mrs. Hanlon served as Secretary/Treasurer and Vice-President of Schoner Chevrolet, Inc, a family business.
Dorothy was a member of Christ Presbyterian Church, where she served as a trustee and elder. Also, she was past President of Congress Lake Garden Club, Chapter AC – P.E.O. Sisterhood, Malone College Women's Advisory Council, Malone College Forum Lecture Series.
She served as past President of Aultman Hospital Women's Board where she was Angel Auction Dinner Chairman, Fund Development Chairman, Saks Fashion Show Chairman and Aultman Health Foundation Marketing & Community Relations Committee member.
Other service includes Board of Directors for The Canton Woman's Club, Women's Committee of Walsh College, Symphony League of Canton, Pro Football Hall of Fame Festival Luncheon and Style Show Chairman for 2 years, member of the Women's Committee of the Canton Players Guild,
Trustee and Secretary of Hartville Friends of the Library and member of the Lake Community Student Loan Foundation.
Proceeded in death by her husband, Frank R. Hanlon and her parents. She is survived by her twin daughter and son Martha Kaye (Charles) Ash of Perrysburg, Ohio and Mark Earl (Beth) Hanlon of Hartville; grandchildren Brian (Katie) Ash, Kathryn (Craig) Kelnhofer, Daniel (fiancée Leah Staub) Hanlon, Julie Hanlon, AndrewArmour, Evanne Armour and Molly Hanlon; great-grandchildren Mason, Brooklynn and Landon Ash.
Calling hours are Friday 4-7 PM at Arnold Funeral Home Hartville. Funeral services are Saturday 11 AM at Christ Presbyterian Church, 530 W. Tuscarawas St., Canton, with Rev. David de Vries officiating. Private family burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Uniontown. Memorial contributions may be made to Christ Presbyterian Church or Aultman Hospital Women's Board.
